Jillian was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis on the Monday before Thanksgiving and had to start breathing treatments that same day. (Boy was that fun!!!! NOT!!!!) Da-da took her for a recheck on Wednesday to find out she had double ear infections but her Bronchiolitis was improving. Jillian got an antiobiotic and Ba-Ba decided the girls would go ahead down to Mobile on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Poor Jillian was not feeling well but at least the antibiotic would kill the bacteria in her ears. She slept the entire 4 hours in the car so I didn't stop along the way AT ALL. Boy was I glad to see my parent's house.
It was very laid back at the McDonald house and we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on Thursday morning. For our Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, we went to Cracker Barrel, just the four of us. Bon-bon was scheduled to work on Friday and it was decided that we would have our true Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, when Uncle Jeff and Aunt Ricia could join us. We did a lot of laying around in our pajamas, reading books, playing with toys and watching tv between Wednesday evening and Friday evening. We also continued our breathing treatments 3-4 times a day with the help of Bon-bon and Papasan, as well as the antibiotic, which Jillian actually liked and thought was tasty. Friday night came and my sister and her husband arrived post Iron Bowl game! War Eagle!
Saturday was another relaxing day and we ate our wonderfully prepared meal around 3pm. Bon-bon had fixed everything and the food was delicious. After dinner, we took a stroll thru the neighborhood to get some fresh air. That was a nice way to end the evening, then more football on tv. Jillian started having a reaction to the antibiotic around 5pm and got a severe diaper rash. She was not very comfortable so that made for a long night even after the cornstarch bath.
We made a point of chatting nightly with Da-da and missed him so much! It was nice to put him on speakerphone and let him talk to Jillian. She would grin from ear to ear when she heard her dad's voice.
Sunday came too fast and we packed up to head north. We made a nice stop in Montgomery to visit with Daddy, Grandpa Mike, Aunt Coleen and Great Grandmother. It wasn't as long as we would have liked, but Jillian still wasn't well and we needed to get back to unpack and prepare for the week (Da-da got some great pics on the earlier post).
Though we were apart at Thanksgiving, it appeared that we were right where we needed to be for both of our families and hopefully next year we can have Thanksgiving together again!!!
