8 Days with the McDonalds

We had planned to visit BonBon and Papasan in Mobile for Labor Day, however with the hurricane activity in the Gulf we decided not to go down that weekend. After Hurricane Gustav landed on September 1, I decided to make the trek to Mobile on my own with Jillian, who was 3 weeks old at that time. Call me stupid or call me brave. I prefer the latter!!!

I got down there with her late afternoon on September 2 and we only had to make one stop to feed and change her diaper. She was a trooper and slept the entire way! We had a lot of fun that week visiting with the Mobile grandparents, going to dinner and lots of Babies R Us shopping trips. Jillian has quite a few needs and so does her mommy!! I also got some extra much needed sleep since I had my mom and dad to help with feedings, diaper changes, walking around the room holding and entertaining her. Jillian had the best time in her new swing at the McDonalds and her new porta crib worked out great!

We also had a family get together on Sunday, Sept 7 to introduce her to everyone in Mobile. It was a great way to visit with everyone at one time, as well as introduce them to Jillian. As usual, Bon Bon did a great job organizing that soiree and once again, Jillian slept thru the entire event. Oh well! Maybe she can actually meet her McDonald relatives when she is a little older and AWAKE! It was great seeing everyone and made the trip very worthwhile. Thanks to everyone that came and we were sorry we missed the others that couldn't make it! We'll be back!

Jillian is a pro sleeper when she wants to be. She slept thru her first Mexican restaurant inclusive of mariachi band, which played really loud. She also slept thru dinner at Olive Garden and dinner at a really good seafood restaurant, the Lighthouse. She got the benefits of the good food that mom ate but wasn't really interested in the ambiance. She was more interested in the back of her eyelids.

All in all the trip was GREAT! It was hard to leave Bon Bon and Papasan but we needed to get back to Birmingham because Dad was missing us. (We missed him too!)
